Canfield Harness Horsemen's Association Awarded Richard Brandt Sr. Extra Effort Award. The 3rd annual Richard Brandt, Sr. Extra Effort Award was presented to the Canfield Harness Horsemen's Assocation in recognition of its efforts in the community. Each year, the association tirelessly puts on its race program with an amphasis on quality racing. Active in Canfield for over 30 years, the CHHA has several signature activities that the community counts on annually. In 2003, the CHHA expanded its scholarship program to present two $500 scholarships to local youths to help pay for higher education. To raise awareness of their scholarship program and their work with the Second Harvest Food Bank, the CHHA also holds a celebrity race at the fair. The event brings in radio and TV celebrities to race in front of the grandstand full of cheering fans. With over 100 members, the CHHA remains one of the largest horsemen's groups in the state and is also one of the most active as it continually improves its track and barn area. Its yearly matinee, in June, brings in horses from around the area and is well attended.

Truck & Tractor Pull--The Canfield Fair Open Tractor and Truck Pull
has been the top pulling event in eastern Ohio for many years and 2009 will
mark
another milestone in te emergence of this spectacular event. The National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA), the oldest sanctioning body in the sport of pulling, will join with USA-EAST to Co-Sanction the pull.  Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 7:00 pm has been reserved for the pull.  The event will be  promoted by and produced by Full Pull Productions of Jamestown, PA for the fourteenth straight year.  One of the highlights of the co-sanction will be the appearance of the NTPA Unlimited Modified Tractors at Canfield for the first time in many years.  The Canfield Pull will also mark the return of the Modified Semi  "Shoot Out" to the sport.  This event was abandoned about six years ago. Now the Canfield Fair will return this Semi "Shoot-Out" to showcase the best of the Big Rigs and the best of Super Semis on the same track at the same time.
The Canfield Fair is the largest county fair in the state of Ohio and annually draws upwards of 12,000 fans to the pulling event.
