Less Than 24 Hours Away!

If you’ve been watching the countdown clock on our Canfield Fair website, you know that the moment thousands have been waiting for is very near.

The gates will open for the 164th edition of the Canfield Fair at 8:00 a.m.
Wednesday, September 1!

And so will begin 6 Days of Family, Friends, Fun (and Food!). Since the Fair’s entry into the world of social media last year, we’ve heard from so many people from both our area and across the country. They’ve told us in no uncertain terms just what the Canfield Fair means to them:

  • Many people in our area have told us that they go to the Fair every single day it’s open — Wednesday through Labor Day.
  • Others here tell us they have family members from out of town who plan their summer vacations around the Fair. They descend on their local relatives, and everyone goes together to rekindle the good times that began many years ago.
  • Folks from out of town who no longer have family here come anyway. So many have said that the miles that now separate them from our area don’t stand in the way — they want to be here for the Fair, and plan on it every year.
  • Still others say, with considerable regret, that they can’t make it this year, but wish so much that they could. They wish everyone who can a great time (but with a certain amount of envy in their voices!).
No matter where you might be as you read this, we hope you’re able to make at least one visit to the Canfield Fair a part of your plans this year. And for those who are traveling some distance to be here — welcome home!

Bargain Gate Admission at
This Year’s Fair

Remember that both teens and adults can enjoy reduced gate admission prices on Opening Day at the 2010 Canfield Fair.

Teens and adults get in for $5 on Opening Day, a $2 savings. Admission for Seniors 62 years and older is just $3, a $4 savings off the regular admission price.

Other fair days offer additional savings. Thursday, September 2 is Youth Day, with kids 7–12 years old admitted free, while teens 13–17 pay only $2.

It’s Seniors’ turn on Friday, September 3. Fairgoers who are 62 years and older pay just $5 at the gate on Friday.

Admission for Adults and Seniors all other days of the fair is $7, while kids 7–12 pay $2. Children 6 and under enter free every day.

Get On Board With Free Parking, Shuttle Service

Here’s a great tip on how you can avoid the crowds and any parking hassles at the Fair over the holiday weekend.

Park for free at Canfield High School, then catch a shuttle between there and the fair. The shuttles will run from noon to midnight Saturday, September 4; Sunday, September 5; and Monday, September 6.

Handicap Parking, Scooters and Wheelchairs Available
  • Handicap Parking is available at Gate 9 off Rte. 46, and at Gate 2 off Fairground Blvd.
  • Wheelchairs and scooters are available to rent at Gates B and F from Boardman Medical Supply and First Choice Mobility.

Follow the Fair on Social Media

Last year marked the first time the Canfield Fair took the plunge into the world of social media, and by every measure, it was a huge success.

At last count, the Fair’s Facebook page showed 17,484 people who “like” us — and they come from all over the country and even overseas. This year, we encourage all fairgoers to post their photos and their thoughts right from the fairgrounds. Those who can’t be there but wish they could be are welcome to join the fun, too.

For even more instantaneous updates, post to the Fair’s Twitter page.

And look for photos of past Fairs as well as this one on our Flickr page.

And finally, we’ll again have videos to share with you from the action at each day’s Canfield Fair on our YouTube page.

Check out The Canfield Fair on all social media. If you can’t be there, it’s the next best thing!
